I swear, I’m not referring to myself in the second person. The bold writing simply indicates the questions any reader of this page is asking me. For consitency’s sake. Yeah, that’s it! Consistency!
Name: Rahula Rao Strohl
Compact life story slash résumé: Born in Chicago (Hyde Park), raised in Oak Park (OPRFHS ’98), Oberlin College ’02 (Math/Music History & Theory), Elyria Chronicle-Telegram for a year covering various H.S. sports, now-defunct ChicagoSports.com ’03-’09, ESPNChicago.com for a few months in ’09 before branching out on my own.
Organized dry-land sports you’ve competed in since O.J. hopped in a white Bronco: Zero.
Favorite sport to play: Water polo.
Favorite real sport to play, smart-ass: Oh, uh, basketball maybe?
Only team you are still emotionally invested in: Chicago Bulls.
Worst Chicago sports heartbreak: The Phantom Phoul. Best thing to happen to Jordan’s legacy, worst thing to happen to Pippen’s. You know, aside from the whole 1.8 Seconds of Shame two games earlier.
Favorite Chicago sports moment: Michael Jordan going playground on Brent Price.
Seriously, you were at Super Bowl XLI and your favorite Chicago sports moment was a mid-January Bulls-Bullets game? OK, Devin Hester’s opening kickoff return was pretty cool. So was liveblogging the White Sox’s clincher. And there was the Barrett-Pierzynski smackdown.
Why are you talking so much about yourself? You’re the one who clicked on the “About” section.
Most embarrassing song on your I-Pod: Probably a toss-up between “Dancing Queen” and Paula Abdul’s “Straight Up.”
Will we be able to understand your writing if we haven’t seen or don’t like “The Simpsons”? You’ll understand it, you just may not like it.
Sports figure you’ll have trouble denigrating because he’s a nice guy: Alex Brown.
[...] glory as a liveblogger of Bears games by Week 4. Please be patient, and in the meantime, learn more about me because I’m such an incredibly fascinating pers— oh never [...]

Just read your mother’s Christmas letter. She left the word “blog” out of your website. It took a little longer to find you. Now you are mine, except I don’t twit.
You are still one of Nancy’s favorite babies’ sat.

There is something wrong with your blog clock, running six hours ahead of time. Is this a sign of the apocalypse?

I think it’s on GMT. I set my own clock on my settings, but I don’t think I can adjust the comment clock. I’ll look into it…

Rats, I find your live blogging column AFTER the season ends. How come your not doing “Bear with us” anymore on the trib site? They have a live blogging feature on game days but it sucks balls.

Trib canned me back in February. Just got this started in Week 4 because it took me that long to break free of the shackles of part-time employment at ESPNChicago. Game on now. Stay tuned and hopefully I can provide a decent service. Good to have you back!

That’s too bad. Your live game day blogging was the best. Looking forward to reading them here now. Trib sports is getting weaker and weaker. Strange that they got rid of the chicagosports.com domain after trying to build that site. Now there’s something called Chicago Breaking News with some live blogging. Seems pretty weak. Any chance that you can do some more Blogging on the Bulls? Sam Smith does a great blog now on the Bulls but would love to hear your take.
